The petition deadline has passed for appearing on the primary ballot in June. While a few more Democrats will appear on the ballot this year, there are still many gaps. The door is still open for anyone wishing to serve their community and challenge GOP in Sussex County.

The bright spots are in Hampton and Stanhope, where all contested seats will have Democratic challengers.

In Branchville, Frankford, Franklin, Green, and Hardyston, we will have one Democrat challenging for one of two open seats.

There is still an opportunity to seek a position on your town council by running as a write-in candidate in the June primary. You will need a minimum of twenty-five votes (fifty in Hopatcong), equivalent to that required for the petition.

Byram, Newton, Sparta, and Vernon hold non-partisan elections where no primary is required.
