Scott Garrett is losing the money game in the Fifth Congressional District. Democratic challenger Josh Gottheimer is out raising him two to one. Garrett raised $1.1 million through mid May; Gottheimer, $2.2 million.

So Garrett’s reaction -- Gottheimer’s support is coming from outside the district....The Record’s Herb Jackson says “not so fast Congressman Garrett!” An article that appears in The Record examines Garrett’s assertions and finds that they are questionable at best. In fact, it looks like Garrett raised almost as much of his war chest outside the district (81%) as did Gottheimer (87%).

And when it comes to total dollars raised and number of donations from within the state and the district -- Gottheimer far surpasses Garrett.
