In 2010, she co-founded the grassroots parents group, Sparta Unites for Our Schools; in 2011 she ran for the NJ Assembly in the 24th District. The focus of her campaign was education funding and supporting public education. In 2012, she co-founded the Sussex County Democratic Women’s Caucus, which became The Northwest New Jersey Democratic Women’s Caucus.

Leslie has worked on various campaigns, locally, as well as statewide races. She worked on Barbara Buono’s campaign for Governor in 2013, and was the Sussex/Warren liaison for the Cho Campaign in the 5th Congressional District in 2014.

Lisa Murphy

Lisa Murphy is a life long Democrat who felt compelled to get more involved in politics after her daughter arrived. Lisa volunteered for both of President Obama's campaigns. She has contributed and volunteered her time for the local D24 and Roy Cho efforts as well.  The continuing gun violence in our country is an importance issue for Lisa and she has participated in the Brady Campaign as part of her political efforts.  Lisa's professional life reflects her democratic values.  Earning her Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University and working with varied populations has allowed her the opportunity to further the cause of equality and fair treatment for those often overlooked by society such as children, single mothers,  substance abusers and the elderly.  To get more involved in local politics, Lisa welcomes the opportunity to serve as Secretary for the SCDC.
