Sussex Voters Begin to Turn Away from the GOP

An analysis of the Sussex County voter registration records from December 2015 reveals that voters are beginning to turn away from the Republican Party, opting not to join any party at all.

gop_slide.pngThe number of number of people registering to vote as a Democrat in Sussex County during the past five years was slightly lower than that of the overall population, being down about three percent. However, that same population on the Republican side has fallen by over seventeen percent.

The registration shift is to the “undeclared” column. Over sixty-five percent of all people who registered to vote in the past five years are siding with neither party, declaring themselves ‘Unaffiliated’.
