Now that most of you have your ballots, are eagerly filling them out, and can't wait to return them, it's time to talk about getting your ballot safely and successfully back to the Board of Elections. One way to return your ballot is to drop it at a secure ballot drop box.
Now that most of you have your ballots, are eagerly filling them out, and can't wait to return them, it's time to talk about getting your ballot safely and successfully back to the Board of Elections (if you haven't done so already).
One way to return your ballot is to drop it at a secure ballot drop box. Sussex County now has fourteen such drop boxes conveniently spread throughout the county. These boxes are monitored 24/7 and bolted to the ground; their contents are emptied daily and escorted back to the Board of Elections by two election officials of differing political affiliations.
Please note that you CAN NOT turn in mail-in ballots at the polls on Election Day, but because Sussex County has so many drop boxes, you should not have a problem getting your ballot where it needs to go – there should be one near you!
The drop boxes can be found at the following locations:
- Sussex County Clerk's Office, Newton, rear of building
- Andover Township Municipal Building
- Byram Township Municipal Building
- Frankford Township Municipal Building
- Franklin Borough Municipal Building
- Fredon Township Civic Center
- Hampton Township Municipal Building
- Hardyston Township Municipal Building
- Hopatcong Borough Municipal Building
- Montague Township Municipal Building
- Sandyston Township Municipal Building
- Sparta Township Municipal Building
- Vernon Township Municipal Building
- Wantage Township Municipal Building
These boxes will be available for collection up until the polls close on Tuesday, November 8 (8 PM).
