On Tuesday, January 11, 2021, business under the golden dome in Trenton went on like any other day.  On this day, a bill was on the Senate floor for a vote. The bill in question was simple: A condemnation of the President and the rioters who stormed the capitol, looted the people’s house and left Capitol Police Officer Sicknick bludgeoned to death. A law enforcement officer lay dead on the capitol while the hordes of criminals spilled into the building, ransacking our Capitol building and our democracy.

Sussex County’s State Assemblyman Parker Space used a racist remark during the New Jersey Herald Republican Assembly debate on Tuesday.

Assemblyman Parker Space (R-Sussex) perhaps unwittingly provided an opportunity for Democrats to explain the destruction caused by marijuana criminalization when he repeated an apocryphal anecdote painting the affluent university city of Boulder, Colorado, in an interview with the New Jersey Herald as “disgusting” since the legalization of marijuana in that state.

As evidence by the fact that Donald Trump not only got elected, but months into his presidency the American people still know nothing about where his financial interests lie, the bulk of the GOP thinks its no big deal if the U.S.’s top executives have interests that conflict with the good of the nation—possibly including even large debts to hostile governments.  Count Sussex County’s own trio of GOP representatives to the State House among them.

While Oroho and Space strategize to increase deportations, New Jersey Democrats and their counterparts in New York are fighting back not only with words, but with action.

Sussex County’s leading Trumpette, state Sen. Steve Oroho, thinks barring refugees and immigrants from majority-Muslim countries who have already gone though extensive vetting, usually over years, and sending them packing is a great idea.

Former county Freeholder and state labor commissioner Harold J. Wirths, a former Chris Christie cabinet member who currently holds a position with the state Parole Board, has thrown his hat into the ring and announced he will run in the Republican primary for an assembly seat in 2017.

People convicted of domestic violence will now be required to surrender any guns they currently own, and are prohibited from obtaining a permit to obtain a firearm, thanks to Bill S2483 signed by Chris Christie on Monday.

In 2017, New Jersey voters will decide if the governor and state lawmakers can balance the budget by raiding environmental settlements.
