An incumbent on the Hardyston council has been ousted from her nearly 30-year tenure after failing to secure her party’s nomination, according Sussex County primary election’s final tallies.

“In November, Kristy Lavin, a Democrat who was uncontested, may cause another shake-up in Hardyston. At last check, Lavin had secured 412 primary votes.

In what is probably not mere coincidence, census data reveal that Sussex County has some of the worst work commutes in New Jersey, along with the highest rate of people fleeing their towns.

This morning, Freeholder candidate Michele Van Allen introduced her newly appointed Campaign Chair, Hardyston resident James Corti, Jr.

Hardyston’s SCDC Committeewoman Marilyn Carlin reacted to a letter to the editor published in The Record lauding Donald Trump for spending minimal funds promoting his primary campaign.

The Hardyston Township Council generally meet the fourth Wednesday of each month. All meetings will be held at the Hardyston Municipal Office, located at 149 Wheatsworth Road, Hardyston, New Jersey. Regular meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m.
