As with so many other progressive measures vetoed at least once by lame-duck Trump supporter Gov. Chris Christie, Democrats in the State House who want to raise the minimum wage in the state are laying the groundwork now but waiting to make a move until January, when Christie is out and, one hopes, a Democrat sits in the gubernatorial chair.

Led by the NJ chapter of the Sierra Club, environmental activist groups rallied in Newark on Monday to urge U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Robert Menendez to oppose President-elect Trump’s choices to head key departments that control environmental policy. They included 350NJ, Greenpeace, CREDO, Interfaith Power and Light, Beyond Extreme Energy and The Green Party of Essex County.

Sussex County Freeholder candidate Michele Van Allen joined Senator Cory Booker at Wednesday’s veterans’ roundtable discussion at the Sussex County Community College.

Harry Kaplan, a long time member of the Sussex County Democratic Committee and also Commander Emeritus of Newton’s American Legion Post 86, met with Senator Cory Booker yesterday. Both took part in a forum on veterans’ issues at Sussex County Community College.

This Wednesday morning, United States Senator Cory Booker will appear at the Sussex County Community College to take part in a program directed toward improving the quality of life for veterans.

On Thursday, September 3rd, Senator Cory Booker announced his support for the Iran nuclear deal.
