We are the party.

On his first day in office, Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement and now employees in the EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights have been placed on paid administrative leave. The environment needs to be a key focus to create a safe, heathy, and sustainable future for everyone. We are the party that wants to mitigate climate change.

The First Amendment of the U.S.Constitution has protected free speech from government interference. We will not let billionaire bullies threaten us or dictate who and what we criticize. We encourage everyone to continue showing up to demonstrations, writing letters, calling your representatives, and speaking out in any way possible. We are the party that believes in free speech.

Trump and the Republicans put forward longtime anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy for Health and Human Services Secretary. He was confirmed to the post that controls $1.7 trillion in federal spending, vaccine recommendations, food safety, and health insurance programs for nearly half the U.S. population. We are the party that values public health and modern medicine.

References to trans and queer people were removed from the Stonewall National Monument’s web page. The page formerly utilized “LGBTQ+,” within its content, as can be viewed in an archived version of the National Park Service’s website. It now only says “LGB.” We are the party that believes trans rights are human rights and that all people within the LGBTQ+ community deserve validation and dignity.

Trump has made increasing the power of corporations over working people his top priority. In his last term, he packed the courts with anti-labor judges in an attempt to financially weaken unions. We are the party that supports the middle class, working families, and unions. 

As Democrats, we value quality educational opportunity and services for ALL children. We are the party that supports public education.

Sussex County is the only county in the state that is considered rural, and we are committed to fighting overdevelopment and warehouse sprawl while still supporting economic development that makes sense for the community we all love. We are the party that fights for responsible and reasonable development.

Women deserve to make their own choices about their health in partnership with trusted medical professionals. We are the party that defends the practice of medicine and protects the sanctity of the patient–physician relationship because Women’s Rights are Human Rights.
