Also at Thursday’s meeting, Daniel Perez of Frankford announced his bid for a seat on the Board of Freeholders, which last had Democratic representation in 1999.
Perez made the formal announcement at the SCDC meeting on Thursday. He will be challenging two Republicans for the single set up for grabs, that being vacated by Phil Crabbe.
Years of GOP hegemony, Perez said, has not done the county any favors, especially in terms of its economy. The county is tops in the state for residents exiting, for example, and an estimated 30 percent of those who remain are considered economically fragile.
“I think when you have a diversity of viewpoints you make better decisions,” Perez said.
