A group of elected officials from Sussex County and well-wishers joined Congressman Josh Gottheimer and his staff as he cut the ribbon to open his office in Newton, which is at 93 Spring Street.
Josh told the group that service his district is and will always be his primary focus in Washington. He remarked to the group: “I want to hear from you. Call me up, talk to me, yell at me if you want; I’m here to listen and to help.”
When asked about his first day on the Congressional floor, Josh spoke of the tremendous feeling of responsibility, and sense of purpose. “I’m here to get things done. That means I need to work with people, not just members of my own party.”
Later he mentioned “There are no assigned seats in the House chamber. It’s common for Democrats to line up on one side and Republicans on the other, but I’ve been mindful to sit in different areas of the Chamber to meet as many of my new colleagues as I can.”
