New Jersey communications lead to Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver and Former Democratic Assembly Candidate, Gina Trish, will assume the role of Chairwoman for the Blairstown Democratic Committee in Warren County.
“I’m so proud of my friend, Gina, on being elected Chair of the Blairstown Democrats. The Blairstown Democrats are lucky to have a strong, progressive voice leading the charge,” said Saily Avelenda, Executive Director of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. “In a year where every single Democratic vote will be necessary to bring a decisive wave of change throughout the state and the country, we need leaders who can motivate and organize voters, and get them to the polls. Gina is that leader. She is a proud progressive with a strong vision for Blairstown and Warren County, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on the team.”
Trish has served as a Democratic Committeewoman in Blairstown’s first district since 2006 where she ran for a seat on the town committee in 2012. In 2017, she ran for State Assembly in New Jersey’s 24th Legislative District with running mate, Kate Matteson, where they brought in the highest percentage of Democratic votes for the Assembly seats since the legislative district was formed in 2010.
“I look forward to working with Gina as the new Chair of the Blairstown Democratic Committee. Gina combines political experience with tremendous energy and will help move the Blairstown Democratic Committee forward,” said Tom Palmieri, Chair of the Warren County Democratic Committee.
Trish is a volunteer event director for Bike to Beat Epilepsy, an annual bike ride in Stillwater raising funds for the Epilepsy Services of New Jersey in memory of her late sister, Shawn. She has also previously served as Northwest Regional Director for Action Together New Jersey and as a board member on the Blairstown Enhancement Committee working on local public service projects.
“Warren County Democrats hold progressive values and I look forward to building our party based on those ideals while bringing a new level of awareness to issues that affect women, children, working families, minorities, and disadvantaged people,” said Trish. “We live in one of the most beautiful places in the state and as a lifelong Democrat, I’m excited to have a platform to make meaningful change.”
