The Sussex County Democratic Committee concluded its "Month of Giving" initiative this week by donating items that will benefit families in need during the holiday season.
Committee members and volunteers dropped off bags of warm clothes, shoes, blankets, diapers and other products at the NORWESCAP office in Hampton Monday and Tuesday afternoon.
According to committee executive director James Santonastaso, the group donated more than 400 items to NORWESCAP, a non-profit organization founded in 1965 that provides various service to low-income residents.
The collection was the result of a month of donations from committee members and other county residents. Committee Chairwoman Dawne Rowe organized the initiative, with fellow members and other county residents contributing to the drive throughout December.

Rowe said her goal moving forward is to continue the committee's relationship with NORWESCAP and expand its charity outreach efforts within the county.
