Morris Dems favor Wenzel over McFarlane in CD11

On Thursday evening, candidates Joseph M. Wenzel (left) and Richard McFarlane (right) sought the endorsement of Morris County Democratic Committee to challenge incumbent CD11 Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen in this year’s election.

Wenzel-McFarlane.jpgAccording to the Daily Record, the MCDC convention gave its nod to Wenzel, of West Orange, over McFarlane, of Haskell, by a vote of 82 to 47.

Both Wenzel and McFarlane will appear on the ballot in the June 7th primary election in those Sussex County municipalities located within the 11th Congressional District, i.e., Byram, Hopatcong, Ogdensburg, Sparta and Stanhope.

An additional CD11 candidate was mentioned at the convention -- Andrew O’Toole -- but he did not appear and has not filed the necessary candidate petition with the Secretary of State of New Jersey.

According to the Secretary of State’s records, an additional candidate, Lee Ann Brogowski, will also appear on the June Democratic primary ballot.

On the Republican side, incumbent Frelinghuysen has been challenged for the GOP nomination by Rick Van Glahn of Denville.
