Phoebus seeks Freeholder support for political grandstanding

GOP candidate for New Jersey Assembly Gail Phoebus asks the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders to adopt a “RESOLUTION CALLING UPON THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT O INVESTIGATE PLANNED PARENTHOOD OVER THE POSSIBLITY OF ALLEGED ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES OF THE SELLING OF BODY PARTS OF UNBORN BABIES.”

gail_phoebus_01.jpgThe resolution is on the agenda for the Board’s September 9th meeting, which begins at 5 pm at 1 Spring Street in Newton, NJ.

Phoebus’ move is political grandstanding. She’s playing to what she believes is her political base. She seeks to appear as a consummate fighter. What in fact she shows is her lack of awareness (or perhaps lack of care) for the legal role of the Freeholder Board, as a well as her ignorance of ongoing investigations of Planned Parenthood.

The Sussex County Freeholders have no role to play in investigation Planned Parenthood or any other agency outside their aegis. There are numerous governmental agencies charged with the job of determining if the activities of Planned Parenthood are legal. A modicum of awareness of current events would have informed Phoebus that such investigations have been undertaken. She would know that Planned Parenthood is not involved in illegal “ SELLING OF BODY PARTS OF UNBORN BABIES.”

Pheobus’ lack of concern or awareness of her current job as Freeholder bodes ill for her ability to handle the job she seeks as New Jersey Assemblywoman. Her lack of attention to the debacle of the solar panel installation as it unfolded is not a good sign. The developer and contractor responsible for the projects began fighting during her watch as Freeholder. Were she performing her job responsibly she would have asked for an investigation of the situation then instead of waiting, as she did, until the matter got totally out of hand at great cost to the taxpayers of Sussex County.
