Garrett and Frelinghuysen vote to deny poor women health care

Scott Garrett and Rodney Frelinghuysen have joined their GOP colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass a bill that would give Planned Parenthood a horrible choice.

scdc_newsletter_20150805_G.jpgGarrett and Frelinghuysen helped the GOP pass Planned Parenthood Funding Moratorium bill (HR 3134) last Friday. Under that bill, Planned Parenthood has this choice:...It can either --

Forego all Federal funding from any source for any purpose including offering gynecological services to poor women who are unable to afford such services without the assistance of Medicare, Medicaid, etc.,

or,

Refuse to help to any women who is too poor to pay for medical services assert her constitutionally protected right to choose to terminate her pregnancy.

Here is the bill.

The bill has been sent to the Senate for consideration. Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to attach a similar one year moratorium to a stopgap spending measure that he hopes Democrats and President Obama consider to be “must pass” legislation.
